Workshop in Morges, Switzerland

Pershaps some of you are interested in taking a workshop with me abroad. This is being planned by a wonderful woman named Christian Studer. We've been corresponding for quite some time now, me not knowing much french and Christiane not knowing much English. But through the magic of google translator, we've had a trans-Atlantic converstion via e-mail.

So please go to OSE ET FAIS. I know it's in French but google will translate it all for you.

I would love to see you in Switzerland!

For the Love of Map Inspired Quilts

Last week I was contacted by a fellow architect / fiber artist from Seattle, Washington. Her name is Louise Wackerman. She and I developed a mutual admiration society. I am always tickled pink when I come across an artist with my background and interest.

She is also a blogger and was planning to be do post about some of her favorite map quilters. I agreed to donate a small map quilt that you can own, if you simply go to her blog, read the post and follow her instructions.

Please give it a try and help us spread the word about fiber art inspired by maps. Just click on the image below:

Workshop Samples or Funky Potholders?

Ever experience the angst of creating a sample for a workshop but repeatedly making a new one because you felt it didn't measure up as a work of art?

That was my comment to one of the fiber art digest groups I belong to. The agony and the ectasy of trying to make examples of some of the projects I give.....feels like a roller coaster ride sometimes. A sympathic response from one of my fellow teachers in the groups was:

"I can come up with something that is precisely what I hope the students will avoid! Like banal uninteresting subject, or color or fabrics! These are destined for the kitchen as new funkyish potholders!"

So true! I have to decide which one of these will gain permanent kitchen duty, lol!
